Taboo?

Nobody dare discuss its presence
No one's willing to admit it's existence
Is it to be shunned
As sex is to a nun
Deviated from conversation
Racism
As soon as mentioned
It causes tension
Turns into dissension
Ugly stereotypical words
Form unacceptable racial slurs
Bringing shame to your name
As well as every person of color
For a White man's historical claim to fame
Is a vile disgusting word I dare not name
Insulting the very core of my being
Wiping away all respect expected
Over past decades equality was of the essence
Given no fighting chance
Never seeing me for who I am
A wonderful woman of African descent
